Youth Hostel Accommodation (YHA) - England and Wales

Service details

Who we are:

The Youth Hostel Association / YHA is a charity that transforms young lives forever.

We believe all young people should have the chance to:

  • have big adventures
  • make new friends
  • try new things and
  • learn vital life skills

We want every child to know what it is like to paddle in the sea for the first time, to see the city skyline at night and to feel the sand between their toes.

We understand the power of travel and adventure to transform a child’s view of the world and their place in it, to provide respite and improve children’s health, education and wellbeing.

People of all ages may stay at YHA although young people aged under 16 years of age must be accompanied by an adult aged over 18 years of age.

What we do:

We provide amazing places to stay and unique opportunities to explore.

We fund stays for families and young people facing adversity so that everyone has the chance to gain new confidence, new skills and a new perspective on the world.

Our Breaks Programmes aim to reach young people and families with the most challenging lives and provide them with life changing experiences.

Breaks programmes are usually for children between 8 and 18, but please check the specific programme for more information or contact our customer services teaam.

Today, young people face many challenges. Financial hardship, homelessness, disability, long-term illness, bereavement, caring for a parent and other circumstances all limit children’s opportunities to explore the world and their place in it.

We are here to reach, and create new opportunities for, those in the greatest need.

We have over 150 hostels, including city hostels, coastal locations and rural locations, across England and Wales.

We also offer camping, cabins and glamping in key locations.

Notes

Whilst we do not provide any specialist services we do strive to be accessible to all and are happy to discuss reasonable adjustments necessary to enable people to stay with us.

Each hostel has an access statement which can be found on: https://www.yha.org.uk/
