Who we are:

Young Hackney Sports Unit (YHSU), supports young people through encouraging  healthy and active lifestyles.

We support school's Physical Education (PE) and run youth activity projects for those with SEND (special educational need or disability).

YHSU also supports young people in education, work placements and sports leadership.

What we do:

Young Hackney Sports Unit, runs the Young Hackney - Inspire sessions for young people who have additional needs including:

  • Learning Disabilities
  • autistic spectrum condition including Aspergers or
  • physical disabilities such as CP (Cerebral Palsy) 

YH Inspire sessions offer a range of activities for young people who:

  • Are aged 6-24
  • Have a special educational need or disability
  • Are Young Hackney Members (completion of a consented YH membership form is required)

Sessions include:

Young Hackney Sports Unit works in collaboration with other services to provide opportunities for young people with SEND.

Who is eligible?

Young people in the area between the ages of 6 – 19 are able to access the free sports provisions from this service. 

Children and young people from the age of 5 can engage with the service through the schools programme.

Young people aged 14 and over can help shape and deliver sports provision through the ‘Sports Ambassadors’ project.
