Who we are:
City and Hackney Mind are a mental health charity who are also commissioned to provided some services for those living in Hackney and the City.
They are driven by the needs of those who are experiencing mental distress.
City and Hackney Mind have been part of the community since 1980, and aim to:
- empower people with experience of mental ill health
- deliver innovative, collaborative services
- develop mental wellbeing, resilience and recovery in the borough
What we do:
City and Hackney Mind provide:
- information and support
- campaign to improve policy and attitudes, and
- develop local services in partnership with professionals and clients
Support from the service for those needing help to sustain their wellbeing includes:
- talking therapies,
- mindfulness and
- a range of Wellbeing Activities
Support from the service for those seeking to build skills to aid recovery includes reducing social exclusion through education and support into the workplace.
Support from the service for those experiencing low mood including specific courses.
Specialist support for carers of those with learning disabilities and poor mental health to enable them to meet their own wellbeing needs. This can include 1:1 emotional support
Stress management. Courses and talking therapies where you can speak with a trained professional who can help you explore difficult feeling
Counselling and anxiety management skills including mindfulness courses
Advice and support on benefits entitlement?
Free confidential advice and support on welfare rights and benefits advice service
Help finding work?
Individual free tailored support to find work and stay in a job including:
- Carreras advice
- Help with CV writing
- Help with application forms
- Interview techniques
- Education and Employment Bootcamp
- Information, computer and technology support via courses and workshops.
This service also offers volunteering opportunities.
How do we work?
City and Hackney Mind offers a coordinated ‘Single Point of Entry’ to access all of our services. A named Network Coordinator follows each client’s progress throughout their journey, to ensure that people receive the right kind of support at the right time, and that support is well-coordinated between services and partner organisations.
They work closely with statutory services within both primary and secondary care, social care and with voluntary and community organisations.
Referral agencies can liaise closely with the Single Point of Entry team to determine whether Mind's services can help their clients.
Close work with partners, is intended to improve the quality of life of clients, and to prevent unnecessary use of statutory services, such as A&E or hospital admission.
City and Hackney Wellbeing Network
The City and Hackney Wellbeing Network, commissioned by Hackney Council, is a network of voluntary sector mental health services for adult residents in Hackney and the City, which will empower people towards better mental and physical wellbeing. The network is a diverse partnership made up of ten specialist mental health agencies with a wealth of expertise in working with different communities in Hackney.
The network aims to help people to build resilience to prevent mental health problems starting and to help with issues like stress, anxiety and low mood.
The network also supports people who have severe and enduring mental health conditions.

Parking bays for clients with mobility needs can be found at the front of the office
There are four steps at the entrance to Reception.
Access to classrooms, two meeting rooms and a counselling/one to one meeting room have full disabled access.
There is an accessible toilet on the ground floor, just along the corridor from reception. The toilet has vertical rails either side of the toilet and an emergency alarm pull cord.
Guide dogs are allowed in the office
A wheelchair is available to borrow from reception
