Who are we?
Off Centre is a counselling, art therapy, advocacy, advice and psychosocial service for young people who live, work or study in Hackney and are between the ages of 11 and 25. We help people with all kinds of emotional and practical issues.
A psychosocial approach looks at individuals in the context of the combined influence that psychological factors and the surrounding social environment have on their physical and mental wellness and their ability to function within these.
Our services are free, confidential, and aimed at supporting Hackney’s young people to have greater control over their lives.
We are one of the services that make up the City and Hackney CAMHS Alliance.
What do we do?
We support people with all kinds of emotional and practical issues including:
- stress, self-harm, depression, anxiety,
- sexuality, identity
- bereavement, family breakdown
- accommodation, education
- violence, neglect, abuse, anger, and more.
What kinds of support do we offer?
Therapeutic Service (For young people aged 16 – 25)
- One-to-one counseling, psychotherapy, and art therapy
- Therapeutic art-making group
Psychosocial Service (For young people aged 11 – 25)
- Advice and information (11-25)
- Therapeutic Drop-in (11-25)
- Project Indigo (LGBTQ+ group for 13-25)
- Growing Minds Counselling for African, Caribbean, and Mixed Heritage (11-25)

City and Hackney mental health crisis line and A&E (Accident and Emergency) crisis service
If you are experiencing a mental health crisis, please contact the City and Hackney mental health crisis line on 0800 073 0006
You can also access this service by attending the A&E department at the Homerton University Hospital which is available 24 hours a day 7 days a week.
Support from The Mix
If it is not an emergency but you feel like you need to talk to someone you can contact The Mix. The Mix is the UK’s leading support service for young people. They can help you take on any challenge you’re facing - from mental health to money, homelessness to finding a job, break-ups to drugs. Talk to them via their online community, on social, through their free, confidential helpline, or their counseling service.
If you’re under 25 and need help call their helpline for FREE on 0808 808 4994. You can Speak to their trained helpline supporters on their one-to-one chat service.
The Mix’s team will be able to connect you with a range of services to help you with your query.
Support from ChildLine
Childline is a counselling service for children and young people up to their 19th birthday in the United Kingdom provided by the NSPCC (National Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Children). Childline is their free, private and confidential service where you can talk about anything. Trained supporters are avaiable online or on the phone at anytime.

Young people aged 11-25 registered with a City and Hackney GP.

If you are a young person then contact us directly (phone, email or enquiry form on our website) or drop-in and speak with one of the team.
If you are a professional you can make a referral for a young person with their consent
following the process detailed on the services website here.- What to do if you have a complaint
If there’s something you like or are not happy with, then talk about it with the worker or the manager so they can look at how they deliver their service.
If you are still not happy, ask for the complaints procedure.
