St Dominic's RC Primary School

Service details

Who are we?

St. Dominic’s Catholic Primary School is a small, caring school, where we place a strong emphasis on inclusion and faith. Faith schools are mostly run like other state schools. They follow the national curriculum except for religious studies which may have more of a focus.

The schools admissions criteria and staffing policies may be different too, although anyone can apply for a place. The reception intake is for the schools is 60 children per academic year.

What do we do?

We ensure that all children are included in all aspects of school life, and encourage all pupils, to make the best possible progress at school. Quality teaching is at the heart of our practice; we ensure our pupils have access to a broad and balanced curriculum to develop independent and team skills.

All pupils follow the National Curriculum at a level and a pace that is appropriate to their abilities, and activities may be modified at times, when it is appropriate, for a particular individual or group of children.

We understand that children learn and develop in different ways. Teachers and teaching assistants recognise this and will select resources and plan for different levels of work in the classroom, where appropriate, to cater for the various ways children learn.

Many children, at some time in their school life, need extra help, and our SEND Coordinator, Andrew Armstrong, is always happy to discuss ways in which we can support individual pupils.

Information about support for children with additional needs.

The government has said schools must provide information for parents about the support they give to children with additional needs. These SEN Information Reports (SEN - Special Educational Needs) are intended to explain the practical day to day approach taken in each school. They should be written in a way that is helpful, clear and meaningful for parents.

You can find St Domonic's School SEN Information Report on the school's website in their school policy section, ask the school for a printed copy or see the following Hackney Local Offer website articles that explain about this duty.
