AS mentoring - specialist coaching and mentoring for people with Aspergers Syndrome and Autism

Service details

Who we are

Our mission is to bring about the social inclusion of people with Asperger Syndrome, Autism, and other exclusionary conditions.

We have a particular focus on enabling you to find and retain the employment of your choice, whether paid or voluntary.

We can also support you to help you address other issues in your life which have been holding you back. AS Mentoring provides you with access to appropriate and effective support which is tailored to address your individual needs.

What we do

1:1 Pre-employment Support

Ongoing advice and guidance sessions with a designated consultant which are personalised to meet your individual needs. The objective is to help you develop the skills you need to find work, and to succeed in the job once you've been recruited. Common areas covered include CV preparation, understanding employer requirements, drafting cover letters, identifying suitable job opportunities, completing job applications, interview preparation, and interview support.

Workplace Support

Ongoing support and guidance in the workplace to help you develop strategies to cope more effectively at work, and to improve your communication, organisational and social skills. We can also advocate on your behalf and/ or mediate for you with your employer (line manager, HR personnel, colleagues) if you'd like us to. Experience has shown that our input helps employers gain a better understanding both of autism and of your particular needs as an individual, thus enabling you to achieve your potential in the job.

1:1 Mentoring

Closely-tailored programme of support to help you make positive changes in areas of your life which are currently problematic. The content of sessions is directed by and agreed with you. Common areas of support include social communication and interaction, dealing with relationships, pre- and post-diagnostic support, coping more effectively with anxiety, and anger management. Email, phone and Skype support between 1:1 sessions is available if required.
