Mossbourne Community Academy
Service details
Mossbourne Community Academy is a secondary education academy for girls and boys aged 11-18 years. Mossbourne Community Academy has a specialism in Music
Academies are publicly funded independent schools. They don’t have to follow the national curriculum and can set their own term times. They still have to follow the same rules on admissions, special educational needs, and exclusions as other state schools.
Academies get money directly from the government, not the local authority. They are run by an academy trust which employs the staff. Some academies have sponsors such as businesses, universities, other schools, faith groups, or voluntary groups. The sponsors are responsible for improving the performance of their schools.
SEND School Admissions
Students with additional needs and disabilities who do not have an Education, Health, and care Plan follow the same admissions process as children without additional needs.
Students with SEND who have an EHC Plan follow a different admissions process so that their placements are considered in advance of mainstream students being allocated placements.
Information about support for students with additional needs and disabilities
The government has asked schools and academies to provide information about support for children with additional needs. School SEN Information Reports are intended to tell you the practical day-to-day approach taken within each individual school. They should be written in a way that is helpful, clear, and meaningful for parents. This help and advice article explains more about this duty - What is a school SEN information report?
Mossbourne Community Academy's School SEN Information Report is linked to below, in the policies section of the school's website or on request from the academy's office.

In each of Years 7-11, the academy in liaison with Hackney Education offers three resourced places (15 places in total) for pupils with an EHCP and a diagnosis of autism.
The provision is not suitable for pupils who require the support of a base or a unit as all Autism resourced pupils are fully included in all aspects of academy life.
Places in the Autism Resourced Provision are allocated by Hackney Education’s Complex Needs Panel and are based upon the outcome of a consultation between the local authority and the academy. Find further information on Hackney's autism Additionally Resource Provision here.
