Who we are:
The Education, Health and care Planning team (EHCP team) are responsible for the statutory assessments of children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).
EHC plans are issued for children whose additional needs are severe enough to require support from the local authority as well as the support that can be provided by their school.
What we do:
The team works by assigning coordinators to three areas across the borough:
- North Hackney
- Central Hackney
- South Hackney
Each Area Team has an EHC Area Coordinator and EHC Plan Coordinators who work on individual children’s cases.
Cases are allocated according to the school or education setting that the child attends.
Arrangements are made for children and young people who attend provision outside the borough.
The EHCP team can help with queries regarding:
- the process of applying for an Education, Health and Care (EHC) assessment or
- reviewing an EHC Plan for children and young people aged 0 to 25
