At City and Islington College we ensure students can get the right assessments to help the college understand their individual needs and we recognise that support needs may be because of a learning or physical disability, some medical conditions or a specific language or learning need.
City and Islington College prides itself on a well-resourced Additional Learning Support Team which offers a range of services for students that include the following:
- In-class learning support
- Communication Support Workers to facilitate sign language communication
- 1:1 specialist academic support from qualified teachers to assist with language, literacy, numeracy and study skills
- Specialist dyslexia assessments for students with particular support needs
- Dyslexia support
- Exam support
- Embedded support modes as required
- Support for visually impaired learners
- Brailing facilities to support blind learners
- Student counselling service
- Mentoring Support
- Mental Health and Wellbeing Officers (for learners with MH-related concerns)
- Specialist equipment support
- Initial assessment support
