Who we are:

The Access, Assessment and Family Support Service sits within Hackney Children's Social Care service.

It is the team professionals and members of the public contact if there are concerns about children’s welfare that may require a statutory social work response.

What we do:

If you are worried that a child may be at risk, you will can speak with a social worker in the FAST team: FAST - First Access Screening Team

They will ask you for information about your concern to help them decide which is the most appropriate service to deal with the issue that you have raised.

If the information you provide leads them to believe that a child may be in need of a statutory social work assessment they will allocate the matter to one of the Access and Assessment - social work units who will look into your concerns fully.

If a child is disabled, the family may be referred to the Disabled Children’s Service.

Social care support for families with disabled children. The Disabled Children’s Service undertakes a Child and Family Needs Assessment to see what the family needs. The outcome of this assessment could lead to a support package in the form of Direct Payments, or through an approved care agency.
