Information about school admissions for pupils with SEND (Special Educational Needs and or Disabilities)

Most children with SEND apply for schools in the same way as children and young people who do not have SEND.

Some children with SEND have an Education Health and Care Plan (EHCP) because they have higher support needs. Where this is the case there is a different process for applying for school places including different earlier deadlines for applications to be submitted by parents and carers. This is so school can consider these application before allocating places to children who do not need or have an EHC Plan.
