Who we are: 

The Patient Advice and Liaison Service (PALS) offers confidential advice, support and information on health-related matters. 

Each hospital has a PALS who can be a point of contact for patients, their families and carers.

In Hackney you can find the PALS office next to the main entrance of Homerton University Hospital.

What we do: 

If you have a concern about the care you or a relative or friend is receiving you should talk to the person in charge of your care or the manager of the department.

If you prefer to discuss your concern with someone independent of your care team then you can contact our Patient Liaison and Advice Service (PALS).

The PALS team can help resolve queries and concerns quickly and if you are not happy with the outcome then they can advise you on our formal complaints process.

The Patient Advice and Liaison Service (PALS) at Homerton Hospital aims to:

  • Listen to your concerns, suggestions or queries to learn what the hospital gets right, what it gets wrong and what could  be improved
  • Guide you through the different services available within the NHS
  • Provide confidential, on-the-spot advice, support and information
  • Help sort out problems on your behalf or advise you on how to sort them out yourself

If helpful, PALS can help you to contact other people who may be able to offer support and give you details of groups or organisations that work outside the hospital for example voluntary organisations, community groups or independent advocacy.
