Hackney Family Information Service (FIS)
Service details
Who are we?
Hackney's Family Information Service (FIS) provides impartial information, advice and guidance about childcare, activities, services and opportunities that will improve the quality of the lives of children and young people.
The service can help with queries from parents, carers, professionals and agencies. This includes helping answer queries from those not living in Hackney but needing information about Hackney's services and processes.
What do we do?
The Family Information Service has an advice line and website that provide information to professionals, agencies and the public on a range of services available for children and young people from the ages of 0 – 19 years of age.
The service supports local providers to share and maintain information about the opportunities they offer children and their families which includes:
- information on paying for childcare
- Ofsted registered childcare providers such as nurseries, playgroups, child minders and playschemes
- Children’s Centres
- out of school activities and things to do with children
- parenting courses and family support
- information about services that make up Hackney's SEND Local Offer for children with additional needs and disabilities
Information officers from the service may attend relevant events to meet parents and providers and offer information and advice in person.
Do FIS provide face to face support?
Yes. Hackney Family Information Service is offering face to face support to help parents with:
- information on local children centres, early years nurseries, pre-schools and childminders
- two, three and four year old funding
- services available in the borough
- activities for children and young people
