Who are we? 

The Resource Centre is a one-stop shop for information, advice, and support welcoming professionals, parents/carers of children with disabilities and SEN and young people themselves. 


How can we help?

You can visit the Resource Centre at Hackney Ark to access a range of services including:

  • a library of books
  • a sensory space for children to play in (with parents/carers' supervision) 
  • information leaflets
  • funding packs
  • Resource Centre newsletter
  • two public computers with internet access and learning aids
  • Support to fill in Disability Living Allowance (DLA) and Personal Independence Payments (PIP) forms by appointment
  • space where other services run support groups and SEND-related workshops or sessions.

Yes. Please contact one of the following organisations for support filling in forms such as DLA (Disability Living Allowance)  if the Resource Centre Coordinator is not available:


Hackney Money Hub 

Hackney Money Hub is a new team within Hackney Council. This friendly and non judgemental team has decades of experience supporting people who are struggling with finances, looking for extra help or advice with the benefits system, or even facing homelessness. 

Online application followed by practical support like form filling.

Contact run a free advice and information helpline for parents and carers with a disabled child aged from birth to 25, living in any part of the UK. You can find information that might answer your question here along with information on how to prepare for a call to the helpline. Cost of living support information is also available on Contact website.

City and Hackney Carers Service's Advice and form filling support

Call and speak directly to one of their trained Advice Workers, no appointment needed.They can help you understand your rights and entitlements as a carer and also for the person you care for. They can; do benefit checks, give housing and disability related advice, complete applications for DLA and PIP.

​For more complicated advice, such as Carers Allowance appointments will need to be made. Appointment for this kind of advice must be booked in advance. To arrange an appointment, please complete our online referral form available on the website, call or email info@hackneycarers.org.uk

​Advice can be offered in Dutch, Somali, Bengali, Urdu and Hindi as well as English.


Carers First Hackney

Advice and support for carers who care for someone over the age of 18. 

Carers FIRST delivers the Integrated Carer Support Service across the London Borough of Hackney, supporting people who look after a relative or friend who due to ill health, physical or mental illness, disability or addiction cannot manage without their support.

What to do if you have a complaint

If you have a concern about the service please complete a standard form from Hackney Ark's reception for the feedback box which will be sent to centre manager. 


If you prefer to discuss your concern with someone independent of the service you can contact our Patient Liaison and Advice Service (PALS).

The PALS team can help resolve queries and concerns quickly and if you are not happy with the outcome then they can advise you on our formal complaints process.
