The Postal Museum
Service details
Who are we?
We are an ambitious, forward-thinking museum with an amazing story to tell.
The Postal Museum showcases stories and collections that reveal the fascinating story of Britain’s postal heritage.
The Postal Heritage Trust is the independent charity that created the museum so it could protect and share this rich history.
What can you do at the museum?
Our activities and exhibits are engaging, interactive, educational, inclusive and fun. We offer:
- interactive galleries
- an immersive subterranean rail ride
- a wide-range of learning activities
- modern research facilities
There are also exciting additional opportunities that you can book such as the historic underground tunnel walking tour.
The Postal Museum offers something for everyone, from all backgrounds and all ages.
Do you offer sessions specifically for children and young people with additional needs?
Yes. We offer session times to allow some visitors to access the museum before we are fully open to the public (8am-10:30am).
Our 'Post Early' sessions are relaxed events that have been co-produced with Ambitious about Autism and their autistic Youth Patrons.
These events are designed to support autistic and neurodiverse people, including families and adults.
They are also suitable for anyone who would benefit from visiting the museum when it is less crowded and noisy.
- Look online at our pre-visit visual story.
- Ride the Mail Rail and explore the exhibitions with adjustments and lowered volume levels.
- Self-guided resources can be borrowed to support your visit.
Places for these sessions are limited and you must book a place online or by calling the Box Office.
