Kench Hill
Service details
Who are we?
The Kench Hill Centre is an outdoor education charity providing residential learning opportunities through nature and the environment. Working with schools, families, and voluntary groups, Kench Hill celebrates diversity, nurtures inclusivity, and offers new and exciting ways to discover more about ourselves and the world around us.
We welcome day and residential visits from a diverse range of groups, for formal and informal educational purposes.
We are also available for hire to families and groups looking for a relaxed venue for special occasions, events, and training – from wedding receptions to weekend breaks.
Everyone is welcome and Hackney residents and employees can receive discounted rates.
What do we do?
Kench Hill Centre provides a relaxing, inspirational, residential environment in rural Kent for London’s learners – schools, community groups, families, and residents of the London Borough of Hackney.
Hackney groups are given priority but groups from elsewhere can book when availability allows. Please contact us to find out more.
Kench Hill Mission Statement
“Kench Hill exists to provide a high quality, safe and enjoyable residential learning experience for Hackney’s learning community, serving to inspire, enhance educational achievement and develop social skills.”
The Centre is a great location to teach National Curriculum subjects like:
- Science
- Geography
- Design Technology
- and creative arts and crafts activities
Our staff can devise and help teach programs tailored to your group's needs, or advise on the development of your own program using our facilities.
Short Breaks for parents and carers and their disabled children and siblings
During certain times of the year Kench Hill may offer a residential Short Break of all‐inclusive family break in the Kent countryside for children with special needs aged 5-17 years old.
A range of activities can be suggested but may change according to the needs of those who book. Adults are offered the opportunity to spend time on their own if they want to visit Tenterden shops and cafes, while qualified staff supervise children aged 4 years and over.
