Who we are

We are a children’s and special care dental service.

We see children and young people who cannot receive treatment from a universal dental service. 

Some work may be targeted (short term) other patients with higher needs may be seen more regularly e.g. via appointments made with the special school they attend. 

What we do


  • dental care to children and adults with special dental care needs.
  • oral health promotion programmes in mainstream and special schools.
  • oral health promotion advice, information and training to health, education and social professionals, vulnerable groups at health events.


If you have communication needs or need an advocate or interpreter please make this need clear on the referral.

Both advocates and interpreters can be booked if needed.

...are registered with the General Dental Council. They all hold professional qualifications.

Who is eligible?

Children and adults with:

  • Learning disabilities
  • Autism
  • Physical and sensory disabilities
  • Mental health problems
  • Behaviour problems and ADHD
  • Dental phobias and anxiety
  • Drug or alcohol addiction problems
  • Medically compromised patients
  • People who are housebound
  • People who have dementia
  • Adults and children who are homeless or temporarily housed

Referral Details

A referral is required from general dental practitioners (high street dentists) or other health, education and social care professionals.

What to do if you have a complaint

You can make a complaint in person, directly to the staff member or service.

You can make a complaint by telephone directly to the Customer Care Team, and we will write down your complaint and send you a copy of it.
