Description

Who we are:

The Home Tuition Service is for children with medical needs (including mental health) who are unable to attend school for 15 days consecutively/in a row or cumulatively/when added together in a school year.

  • This service is for children or young people aged 4 – 16 who live in Hackney.
  • They do not have to go to school in Hackney.
  • Home Tuition must be advised by a Consultant level doctor (not a GP).

Note:  This service is not for children and young people who are Electively Home Educated where a family choose to educate at home and not in school.

What we do...

Hackney Home Tuition Service provides one-to-one tuition to pupils in their home while they are unable to attend school due to their health needs.

This helps pupils with medical needs continue to make progress while they are out of school.

The Home Tuition Service works in partnership with:

  • parents
  • children
  • health services and
  • schools

The service also supports pupils reintegration back into school at the end of the period of tuition.

Specialist Teacher for Medical Needs

Consultation and advice service for schools and families who have children and young people with medical needs.

This service offers a specialised support and advice service to schools to ensure the inclusion and care of those students with medical needs.

Note: This is a 'core service' that schools and parents do not pay for.
