Service details
Who we are:
Now in its 21st year Immediate Theatre is a Hackney based arts charity which involves communities in making theatre that inspires wellbeing, breaks down barriers and engages people in the process of personal and social change.
Immediate Theatre's approach is inclusive, imaginative, and interactive, working in partnership with both statutory and voluntary sector providers using the arts to tackle critical issues.
Immediate Theatre aims to:
- Provide inspiring participatory theatre programmes enabling people to reach their potential and prevent exclusion and social isolation
- Create performances which explore social issues, engage people in the process of change and influence decision making
- Improve health and wellbeing and increase life skills and employability through engagement in the arts.
What we do:
What's your story? is an employability skills course aimed at people who are not in education, employment or training (NEET) and live in Hackney.
Using theatre and film-making techniques to build core skill sets, we will work with you to develop your employability and support you into positive pathways.
The programme has three main stages:
- A series of workshops over 4 weeks, using an asset-based approach to identify strengths. You and the team will create a film, write a CV, practice interview technique and apply for jobs.
- Independent support sessions allow our experienced team to work 1-2-1 with you to identify your individual needs and strengths, life and career goals and support you to find appropriate training, work or education.
- We partner with a network of businesses to place you in Work Experience Placements, including within Immediate Theatre’s administration and participation departments.
By week four of this programme you will have:
- Updated your CV
- Created a personal pitch appropriate to your desired work area
- Created a product for online broadcast
- Be ready for interviews and work experience opportunities
And have developed:
- Confidence to present yourself and your ideas
