Futures East

Service details

Who we are:

Futures East is a volunteering project for young people aged 16-25 who have:

  • a learning disability
  • are on the autism spectrum or
  • have additional support needs

The Futures East project is for those living in Hackney and the surrounding boroughs and empowers those who take part to improve social and employability skills, help participants gain confidence and valuable experience through voluntary opportunities.

What we do:

Futures East has a particular focus on matching volunteers with opportunities that reflect their likes and interests.

Opportunities include:

  • Part-time volunteering roles
  • Social Action Projects
  • One off events
  • Training and workshops

Once a suitable volunteering opportunity has been identified, volunteers will be offered:

  • Induction training to prepare volunteers for their new role.
  • One-to-one support from the project officer

OR

A Community Mentor can help support within placements and with travel training and life skills.

How we agree what help is needed:

A volunteer development plan will be established and reviewed regularly so that all volunteers gain the most out of their experience of taking part in the project

If you have to pay for travel to or from the placement your expenses are covered if you are volunteering. Contact the service to find out more.
