Who we are:

ELATT is a mixed community, award-winning, learning community and training provider made up of a dynamic group of people.

Graded Outstanding by Ofsted, we are here to help our students realise their potential in all aspects of learning, life, work and wellbeing.

Each year we enrol up to 80 young people aged 16-25 who have special education needs or are looked after children

Our progression and achievement rates are 50 percent higher than the national average.

Students successfully progress into further and higher education and training.

What we do:

Our goal is to provide a supportive, encouraging and nurturing environment for young people who have complex and inter-related:

• communication and social interaction,

• cognition and learning, and/or

• social, emotional and mental health difficulties

Our Learning Programmes

The pace of learning is particularly good and learners are successfully encouraged to work at higher levels than their previous qualifications and experience would suggest.”

Ofsted, 2015 (Outstanding)

All our students receive a personalised timetable tailored to their individual needs.

As a specialist in digital technology training for over 30 years, we offer training in:

• Web Design and Development (including Coding)

• Computer Engineering

• Business Administration (including Microsoft Office)

• Digital Media Production

• English and maths GCSEs (compulsory if existing grades are below C or 4)

Where appropriate we teach Functional Skills as stepping stones to GCSEs to ensure that students feel their English and Maths studies are supported without the pressure of GCSE exams.

Small classes of an average of 10 students are a vital element of our provision and allow us to deliver more direct support to each young person.

We develop and maintain good relationships and high levels of individual learning with our students.

Our Support

“Excellent personal support from teachers, specialist staff and fellow learners all help to increase learners’ self-esteem, as well as instilling in them a desire to succeed in training and improve their personal circumstances”.

Ofsted, 2015 (Outstanding)

We are committed to supporting young people attending our setting with their emotional and mental wellbeing.

Students that need it have access to counselling and mentoring support.

“I wish my son went to ELATT first as his progress has been better than we could have hoped since he began studying there” Parent of Elatt student

We have a SENCO who will be happy to discuss how to meet your / your young person's needs.

Experienced support staff are on hand in each classroom.

All teaching staff have experience of working with children with SEN and social, emotional and mental health issues.

Our Enrichment Programme

“Lessons are not only extremely effective in improving learners’ knowledge and skills but are also filled with humour and laughter.” Ofsted, 2015 (Outstanding)

We are very proud of the quality of our support and learning programmes.

To prepare our students with the skills needed to thrive in tomorrow’s hi-tech workforce, we offer a transformative enrichment programme to support:

  • social interaction
  • community engagement and
  • employability

All our learners with special needs are invited to attend at least two activities a term and they are encouraged to organise events and clubs themselves.

“This is important work that is being carried out in a sensitive and caring way and is having a very good impact.Tower Hamlets Community Church representative
