Who are we?

City Lit is an Adult Education Center offering part-time courses for adults from all London boroughs. 

City Lit has a Learning Disability Support Department for learners with learning disabilities and other related learning needs. 


What do we do? 

Our courses cover:

  • art and crafts
  • music making
  • singing
  • computing
  • dance
  • drama
  • film making
  • London visits
  • science, and
  • self-advocacy

We offer advice sessions by appointment.

Courses run from September to June but students can join during the year if there are vacancies on the course. 

City Lit is in central London, between Covent Garden and Holborn tube stations

Who is eligible?

Adults aged 18 plus from any London borough

Adults aged 18 plus with a learning difficulty or a learning disability from any London borough

Referral required?

Yes

Referral Details

People can self-refer or be referred by a family member, key worker, organisation.

An application form needs to be completed, and if suitable the applicant is invited to an advice interview.

Applicants can then do a free 2-week trial in a class before deciding whether to enroll.

Can parents & young people buy this service as part of their SEND personal budget?

Yes

SEND Personal Budget - Notes
Courses have cost associated but applicants on benefits and low incomes will qualify for concession rates. You can use a Personal Health Budget or a Personal Budget from Social care to fund your course. Please speak with your Social Worker, Mental Health Practitioner, or Occupational Therapist to find out more about Personal Budgets.

Costs

  • Currently £99 for a 60-hour course (or £199 for a 120-hour course)
  • Applicants with a current Education Health and Care Plan do not pay course fees
