The Huddleston Centre provides a fun and creative safe space for young disabled people in Hackney.
Making friends providing support:
Regular weekly groups provide a variety of social opportunities and fun activities:
- Immediate Theatre - Mondays
- HenPower - Tuesdays
- Cool Gang Club – Tuesdays (for those aged 9-15years)
- Access Project - Wednesday
- Social Club - Fridays (for those aged 16-25years)
Creating a voice and a safe space for young disabled people in Hackney
Our vision is that children and young people with disability living in Hackney are afforded every opportunity to thrive, achieve their potential and that their rights and interests as individuals are met.
Supporting and enabling young disabled people to live the life they choose.
The Huddleston Centre supports The Children’s Disability Forum City and Hackney
The Huddleston Centre is a Short Breaks provider
The Centre can provide:
- support workers
- fully accessible transport and
- specialist equipment
…to enable local young people to have a Short Break.
Short Breaks allow young people with a disability to have an enjoyable break away from their main carer and gives their carer a break from their caring responsibilities.
Short Breaks are for eligible young people aged 9-17 years who are in receipt of Disability Living Allowance (DLA) or Personal Independence Payments (PIP).

Services run mainly in the evenings and after school or college.
Depending on funding additional holiday schemes and some Saturday Projects are run.
Activities vary and are based on:
- what the members request
- issues that members face
- developing skills and independence
- activities the members enjoy

The Cool Gang Club
This is a group for young people with disabilities who are aged 9 - 15 years old.

- Social opportunities
- Educational activities
Day: Tuesday's term time
Time: Collection from home by the Huddleston between 6 - 7pm returned home between 9pm - 10pm

Huddleston centre - The Access Project
Excercise and swimming for young people aged 9 - 17 years old who have profound disabilities. Support provided on a one to one basis.
Young people come to the centre and a drop off service can be provided to bring them home afterwards.
It may be possible to arrange for school transport (if they recieve this service) to bring them to the centre to meet up for the session.
Venue: Sessions take place at The Britannia Leisure Centre.
Meet at The Huddleston Centre and please bring a swimming costume, towel and light snack.
Day: Wednesday's Term Time
Time: 4:15pm - 7:30pm
The Huddleston projects aim to accomodate all the support needs, triggers, personal care needs, allergies of it's members. These are discussed in the referral meeting where a suitable project will be identified.
