Who we are: 

Core Arts is a mental health charity and not for profit Social Business. With 25 years experience of promoting positive mental health and wellbeing through creative learning.

...initiatives that enable people over 18 who experience mental health issues to overcome barriers, fulfill their potential and participate fully in their community.


What we do:

Psychological Wellbeing through Creative Education

  • Offering access to 80 + creative classes a week under five departments: Arts, Music, Multimedia, Horticulture, Sport.
  • Open studios and resources to work on self directed projects, bookable recording studios, 4 exhibition spaces, 2 art studios, 3 art workshops & an ICT Suite.
  • 40 professional PGCE/PTTLS trained, established and practicing tutors offering excellent education and inspiration in the creative arts.
  • Effective individual guidance and support in personalised progression and skills development.

To become a member of Core Arts you must have an interest in developing your creative potential, and in addition:

  • recent hospital admission
  • current contact with Mental Health Services
  • a CPA (Care Plan Approach) supported by either a social worker, key worker, care co-ordinator or Community Psychiatric Nurse
  • Access to a personal budget or secured other funding to fund the membership
  • Referral from a care coordinator, social worker or consultant from an NHS psychiatric or mental health team.

  • No need to book & unlimited sessions
  • All levels welcome

  • Free for City & Hackney residents, ‘pay and play’ option for those who live outside the borough.

Core Arts are open to new referrals from all London Boroughs and have membership spaces available for persons using personal budgets.

What to do if you have a complaint

Core Arts has a complaint procedure which is available once you become a member.
