Clapton Girls Academy offers A Level, and BTEC courses in a range of subjects at 6th Form. A wide range of interests and skill sets are catered for. Both academic and vocational subjects. View more information about CGAs courses, facilities and student’s experience here.
Information about CGA’s ethos and support for students with additional needs
CGA aims to achieve maximum inclusion of all students whilst meeting their individual needs. They provide learning opportunities and materials appropriate to individual students interests and abilities. This ensures that all students have equitable access to the academy curriculum.
CGA focuses on students' individual progress as the main indicator of success. They understand that progress looks different for each child. CGA also understands it is important to monitor and celebrate progress in non-academic fields such as social skills and emotional and mental well-being.
SEND and School Admissions
Students with SEND
Information about the process for applying for secondary school, if you have additional needs but do not have an EHC Plan, is the same as the general admissions process. This information is available on Hackney Education's website here.
Students with SEND who have an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHC Plan)
The timescale and process for starting secondary school for students with an EHC Plan is different. A preference form will be sent to you to list the schools you would prefer your child to attend. Find information about secondary choosing and starting at secondary schools (Secondary Phase Transfer)) here.
The School SEN (Special Educational Needs) Information Report
The government has asked all schools and academies to provide parents with information about their support for young people with SEN. This is called a School's SEN Information report.
The School SEN Information Report explains the practical day-to-day approach taken by individual schools. They should be written to be helpful, clear, and meaningful for parents. The following Hackney Local Offer help and advice articles explain more about this duty. What is a school SEN information report?
Information about support at GCA for students with SEN is available in Clapton Girls School SEN Information Report linked to below.
