About this services

Hackney has an Autism Lead for Social Work within its Integrated Learning Disabilities Service for adults with autism. 

A weekly 1:1 information and advice service for anyone over the age of 16 who works or lives in Hackney, who either has a diagnosis of autism, works with, or cares for someone who does.

The service is aimed at autistic people without a learning disability.

Autism advice sessions are weekly 1:1 information and advice service for anyone over the age of 16 who works or lives in Hackney, who either has a diagnosis of autism, or works with or care for someone who has a diagnosis of autism.

Sessions are held at Hackney Opportunity Hub, 139 Bowling Green Walk N1 6AL


What advice can be provided at these sessions? 

The service is aimed at people with autism without a learning disability and aims to provide: 

  • Information about local and national services
  • Advice about benefits
  • Advice about transitioning into adulthood
  • Support to understand a diagnosis
  • Information and support for family members or carers
  • • Advice and guidance for professional practice

Who is eligible?

These sessions are available for:

  • Young people with autism aged 16 and older.
  • Adults with a formal diagnosis of autism, without a learning disability
  • People who work with or care for someone an autistic young person or adult aged 16 +

What to do if you have a complaint

If you have any feedback about the service you received do talk about it with the worker in the service. They will try to help resolve any concerns.

If you have a situation that you are still not happy about then you can raise it formally. This means someone who is not the person working with you will look at what you say and see if anything needs changing. Raise a complaint using Hackney's formal complaints procedure here.
