Children’s Centres are community hubs that offer a wide range of services which are available to all families and children. They are specifically designed so children under the age of five and their families can access services in one place that is local to them. The services include:
- FREE stay and play sessions
- Nursery and child-minders (charges do apply)
- Health services
- Family support
- Help and support to get into training and employment

What activities are available?

What health services are on offer in Children's Centres?
- Speech and language therapy. These therapists can help your child if they are finding it hard to talk.
- HENRY A FREE fun programme designed to give babies and young children (0-5 years) a good start and to help the whole family adopt a healthier lifestyle. The programme covers; healthy nutrition, oral health, active lifestyles, breastfeeding and parenting.
- Mental health services - Direct support to children and families such as counselling, or support to your child.
- Hackney's Portage service who work in the home with children up to age of 3 (if they have a disability) and their families to improve the child’s development.

- Who is eligible?
Universal service meaning it can be accessed by all Hackney families with children aged 0 – 5 years.
- Referral Details
Some specialist services require a referral from a worker such as Health Visitor, Family Support Worker or GP.
- What to do if you have a complaint
If you have any feedback for the Children’s Centre, then do talk about it with the worker or manager.
If you are not happy with their response and wish to make a formal complaint, then ask the reception for the centre or schools complaints procedure as this centre is part of the school.
