The Nisai Virtual Academy

Service details

Who are we?

At the Nisai Virtual Academy, we know that everyone has equal value and deserves access to a high-quality education. We take a high-quality school environment and provide this through our online offer to students around the world. We provide live online classes taught by qualified subject-specific teachers.

  • Our mission is to offer traditional and non-traditional learners the opportunity to learn and develop skills through an innovative online education.
  • Our goal is to ensure that every student can complete their education and gain accredited academic and vocational qualifications such as Functional Skills, GCSEs, and A Levels.

What do we do?

We provide an inclusive, supportive learning community from Key Stage 3 (school years 7 to 9 when students are 11 to 14 years of age) to Key Stage 5 ( school years 12 to 13 when students are 16 to 18 years of age).

We help create pathways to further education and employment through personalised online learning.

Our support includes:

  • A long-term curriculum for Key Stages 3, 4, and 5.
  • A short-term rolling flexible curriculum ranging from 1 hour to 15 hours per week.
  • High-impact, low-level literacy support through Units of Sound.
  • N-HELPP English Language proficiency programme
  • 1:1 Online academic Personalised Learning Support with the support of a mentor.
  • A Virtual Mentoring offer and support system for life skills, homework confidence, and general emotional well-being.

We provide our learners with small, secure virtual classes of no more than 15 students. This helps them focus on their education without the distraction of a larger class of 25 plus that they may have experienced before learning with us.

Due to our online focus, our students come from across the country including Hackney. Their lessons can be accessed anywhere with an internet connection using a laptop, tablet, or PC.

Our teachers are based in our office in Stockton-On-Tees. Please contact us directly for more information or an informal discussion.

What support do we offer students who have SEN (Special Educational Needs) or Disability?

Through the Nisai Virtual Academy or ‘NVA’, we provide an inclusive, highly social, and student-focused experience for all learners particularly those who have some form of SEND, physical or social, emotional, and mental health needs.

We have supported learners with various SEND barriers including:

  • Asperger's Syndrome,
  • Autism,
  • Dyslexia,
  • Global Delay and Moderate Learning Difficulties.
  • Behavioural difficulties
  • Medical illness
  • Anxiety difficulties
  • Physical Disabilities

Many of our SEND learners have an EHC Plan. We can support them to achieve their educational ambitions.

We meet the needs of many challenges experienced by SEND learners such as avoiding eye contact and the need for a familiar routine through timetabled lessons.

Learners with SEND who have joined Nisai in Key Stages 3 and 4 have progressed to their chosen Post-16 pathway of College, University, or paid work.

The Nisai Virtual Academy is a Section 41-approved provider. Section 41-approves settings are not controlled by a local authority (LA) or the Secretary of State for Education. These are independent special schools/colleges which have been approved by the Secretary of State under section 41 of the Children and Families Act 2014.
