Who we are: 

"my AFK" support disabled children and young people aged 14 – 25 years who have special educational needs to ensure they gain the most from their school experience and ensure their voices are heard.

Young people no longer in full time education are taught practical skills in managing money, living independently and how to access help that is available.

My AFK have full time job coaches can organise training and work placements.


What we do: 

Our curriculum balances bespoke work placements, accredited learning, travel training and everyday life skills to ultimately gain paid employment.

 my AFK provides mobility equipment not available on the NHS, such as bespoke powered wheelchairs, specialised trikes and walkers, to disabled children and young people up to age 25.

Who is eligible?

Young people are accessed and if spaces are available will be assigned a time slot, which may be a half day to 2 days at most.  Services are tailor made and time bound.

Up to age 25 with learning difficulties/physical disability.

Yes

Referral Details

Can be a self-referral from the young person, parent/carer, social worker etc.

There are several referral forms depending on age for each department, it is best to ring up beforehand for a chat before a referral is sent to establish how Action For Kids can help and to determine if spaces are available.

What to do if you have a complaint

If there’s something you like or are not happy with, then talk about it with the worker or the manager so they can look at how they deliver their service. If you are still not happy, ask if they have a complaints procedure.
