Who are we?
Refuge is a national charity, providing practical and emotional support to women, and their children, who are at high risk of injury or harm from a current partner, former partner or a family member.
How do we provide advice and practical support?
A support worker can provide clients with information on how to stay safe, support to contact the police and access the criminal justice system, help to enter or re-enter work or education, and advice on housing, benefits and accessing counselling and other health services.
Is specialist information and support available?
Refuge provide advice and support about a range of issue people who are experiencing domestic abuse or violence can experience. Where specialised support would be helpful we can signpost to trusted organisations who can advise you.
We can offer service for Asian, South Asian and Muslim women experiencing violence. These service provides support with a range of issues, including forced marriage, insecure immigration status, and issues of disownment by family and communities relating to systems of 'honour'.
